Questions with Jasmine:
What drew you to begin creating art?
Similar to many other artists, I was drawn to the arts with a desire to create my own world, to live out my imaginative fantasies. As I grow older, art becomes a way for me to understand my surroundings, through the necessity of observation. With each new thing I learn, I stop aging for just a little longer and time moves just a little slower.
Where did you get the inspiration for creating your art piece(s)?
This particular piece was inspired by my favorite fictional character as his struggle and aspirations brought much light to my life, even outside of entertainment.
How do you see yourself contributing to the art community in the future?
I’m hoping to be able to share what I know about the pieces that I create, my mindset, my experiments, my process, and my results. Since I desire to combine multiple mediums, from sound design to virtual sculpting, it would be an interesting tale for other artists wishing to explore. The artscape can evolve when artists choose to reveal their struggles and perseverance.
What do you want people to think when they see your art?
Depending on the subject of the piece, I want people to feel a sense of tenderness and compulsion to create their own artworks, including mediums outside of the fine arts.
Outside of art, what are some of your hobbies and interests?
Well, I am equally as fascinated by the field of genetic engineering which is what I’m studying to work as. Besides the sciences, I roller-blade once a while.
How do you want to impact the world? A more measurable impact I seek to leave is through my future research as an aspiring geneticist. I’d like to use genetic engineering as a solution to inheritable diseases and health issues alike.
